I'm on the bus and this girl I used to be friends with is sitting behind me. She's on the phone and is speaking loud enough for the whole bus to hear. She speaks smugly and in her aggressive manner. (I presume she is talking about her Law class).

Girl (aggressively): ...So I was like: "Well do YOU have a sister" and she said "well no", so then I was like: "Well you don't know then, do you?!". She said: "Well..." and I said: "well WHAT?" and she run out of the classroom crying. The class clapped and one person said: "Wow, how'd do you think to come up with an arguement so quickly?" (smugly) and I said: "I don't know, I just do..."

I was reading the Gala Darling article about loving your body and found it really inspiring. She had asked on her twitter the ways in which others 'love their body'; here are some of my favourite replies:

"I kiss my shoulder without noticing, as if to say Thanks, love ya."

"I celebrate my body by reminding myself that throughout the history of existence, no creature has existed that embodies my form"

"I celebrate my body by trying to do the best I can for it, from exercise to eating right to pampering to sleeping well... ...even though I’m not perfect at it, it then rewards me and shows appreciation by making me look and feel better. It’s the.. ...only one I have, so I want to treat it with respect"

"Strangely enough, I feel most in love with my body when I’m nekkid. Everything where it should be; just me as I am."

"My body is a map of those who came before me. Every freckle, scar or bump was a hand me down from the past. The way I hold a cup or touch my cheek as I am laughing are traits passed down from my ancestors. That’s how I embrace and celebrate mine."

"dancing in my underwear"

I've been skinny my whole life and others think that if you're naturally slim you are completely confident and in love with your body.
Well, I'm not.
I don't like my frizzy hair, my complexion, my ankles, my knees, my nose, my teeth...
The list could go on.
And then I read this article and I think: wow, everyone feels this way.
And you know what?
You're you.
I'm me.
And we should really, truly love ourselves.
Every 'flaw' is actually something unique, and how special does that make you feel?
I'm going to learn to 'self-love'.
And I think you should too.

I was also a fairly scrawny kid and grew up to be equally scrawny. I still have my physical hang-ups (nose, eyes, teeth, complexion, etc.) but I've come to love me as a whole, if not for the individual parts.

I love Gala Darling and I love this post.

Ugh people who talk loudly for the benefit of others; gtfo of my life! (It's like that woman and her kid on the bus that time)

I like this post, it's very positive and smiley. I'm kinda used to my body now. Took me a wee while, but this is how I am and there's not much that can be changed about it.
I'm Poppy and I'm a bit squidgey. But that's fine with me. =]
